Half Moon Bay carpet, rug and upholstery cleaning

The city’s planning documents say the Half Moon Bay coast frequently has cool, foggy weather in summer, caused by coastal ocean upwelling and northwest winds. Thirty years of weather-service readings at its Half Moon Bay station put the July high near 65 F and the January low near 43 F. Under a foggy sky a cleaned carpet dries slowly, so open windows only when the air is dry, run a fan and expect the Carpet and Rug Institute’s usual 6 to 12 hours.

Coastside County Water District’s 2025 report matters because the district treats water at two plants. Water from the Nunes plant averages 94 mg/L of hardness, about 5.5 grains per gallon, within a range of 52 to 122, and water from the Denniston plant averages 79, about 4.6. The number at your tap can therefore sit between the two. In any water, a full rinse is what keeps cleaner out of the pile.

Federal housing estimates count 4,068 occupied homes, 29 percent of them rented, with a median year built of 1979 and 68 percent detached houses. A further 215 units, nearly 5 percent, are mobile homes, and 112 of 405 vacant units are held for seasonal or occasional use. The city’s coastal plan places Very High Fire Severity Zones in the vegetated hills north of the city, including the area around Carter Hill and both sides of Highway 92. If smoke arrives, rugs, upholstery and drapes hold the odor, and the Bay Area air district advises a HEPA purifier or a MERV 13 filter with windows closed.
