Water situations people call about

The source changes what you should do first.

  • A pipe or hose let go and water is spreading

Shut the water off first, at the fixture or the main valve, then call us. Extracting water from a floor that is still getting wet is wasted effort.

    Call any hour
  • The washing machine overflowed

Washing-machine and dishwasher discharge are the usual examples of Category 2 water, which is significantly contaminated. That means the carpet and pad get a closer look. Turn off the supply valves behind the machine, then call.

  • Rain came through the roof or a window

The category is decided after inspection, not by the weather alone. Tell us where it came in and how long it ran when you call.

  • Sewage came back up through a drain

Keep everyone out of the room, children and pets included, and do not try to clean it yourself. Sewage is Category 3, which means grossly contaminated water. Call your plumber and us, and say it is sewage.

    Call any hour
  • It has been wet since yesterday

Time counts, and so does the category, so call now instead of waiting to see whether it dries. Tell us when the water arrived and what it was.

What happens when you call

  1. You call and describe the water

A person at the office asks where the water came from, how much there is, what it touched and whether anyone can reach the source. Those answers shape everything that follows.

  2. We tell you what to do until we arrive

You get safety steps for your situation, starting with electricity, and a straight answer about timing for your address.

  3. The technician checks the water and the floor

On site, the technician checks that the source is stopped, decides what category the water belongs to and looks at how far it has spread.

  4. Extract the water

Suction pulls out the standing water and as much of the soaked-in water as can be reached in the carpet and pad. Then the technician explains what the category, and how long the water sat, mean for your carpet and pad.

  5. Talk through what comes next

Extraction is the first step, not the last. Tear-out and rebuilding are construction work, so you get a plain account of what we do and what needs someone else.

Water in Los Angeles homes

The causes here are ordinary ones. A supply line fails, a washer overflows, a sewer line backs up, or a winter storm finds a weak spot in a roof. Rain is not automatically the worst category of water, and finding and fixing the source is the property owner’s job, so a plumber or roofer is part of the answer.
  • A 2026 position statement from the water-damage industry says weather-related water is not automatically Category 3. The category is set after inspection.Source
  • The industry’s water-damage standard assumes that finding and fixing the water’s source is the property owner’s job, not the restorer’s.Source

While you wait

Stop the water at its source if you can reach it safely, and keep children and pets out of the wet area. Treat water touching outlets, cords or appliances as live, and do not wade through standing water to reach a switch or the breaker panel. Lift small furniture, rugs and valuables out of the wet, and take photos of the damage for your records. Open windows in dry rooms, and do not use an ordinary household vacuum on standing water.

Questions about 24-hour water extraction

Should I turn off the power?
If the breaker panel is dry and you can reach it without stepping into water, switching off the circuits for the wet rooms is the safe choice. If the panel is wet or the water is deep, stay away and call an electrician or your utility.
What do clean, gray and black water mean?
People say clean, gray and black water. The industry sorts them into three categories. Category 1 is a sanitary source, Category 2 has significant contamination, such as washing-machine discharge, and Category 3 is grossly contaminated, such as sewage, backflow or river or seawater flooding. The category for your floor is decided after inspection.
Can my carpet be saved?
It depends on the category and how long it has been wet, and nobody should promise it before looking. One university’s water-damage guideline allows drying carpet in place if Category 1 or 2 water has been on it for 48 hours or less, and never when the water is Category 3. Whether yours qualifies is decided on site.
Will mold grow in wet carpet?
Damp carpet that stays damp is where trouble starts. The Carpet and Rug Institute advises that carpet should dry in 24 hours or less to limit microbial growth. If you already see or smell mold, tell us when you call.

What customers say on Google

  • Allison C.

I particularly liked the way the lead cleaner described the PH balance of the solutions that they were using on our carpets. The acidic neutralizing rinse makes sure the floor doesn’t feel crunchy or sticky when it is dry. That extra step means our floors are very silky and totally residue-free.

  • Crystal M.

My kids have turned the giant living room ottoman into a trampoline and it's forever soiled with imprints. Steam cleaning the hefty cloth removed all the dark grime and restored the original bright blue hue. The furniture which is the focus is clean and the living space appears a lot tidier today.

  • Daniel R.

Thick outdoor seats were covered in tree algae and bird poop. Power-washings of the tough material killed any dirt from outside. We are pleased to be hosting barbecues from our clean chairs again.
