What people call about with mattresses

A mattress problem usually starts with a patch, a smell or a move.

  • There is a yellow patch where I sleep

Sweat marks build up slowly and show as a darker or yellow area. Recent marks can lighten, and old set marks may not. We tell you which one we see.

  • My child had an accident in the night

Blot with a dry white cloth and do not pour water on it. The more liquid goes in, the longer the mattress takes to dry. Call us before the mark dries.

    Call any hour
  • It smells stale and I cannot place why

A smell can live in the surface or deeper in the filling. A surface smell is much easier to deal with, and we are honest about which one we think you have.

  • The bed came with the place

A bed that came with the apartment, or a guest bed that has sat shut up, is a fair reason to call. We clean the surface and treat what we can see, and we say so if something is beyond what cleaning can do.

  • I am afraid to get my memory foam wet

You are right to be careful. Foam and thick pillow tops hold moisture longer than a thin mattress, so we keep water low and ask what is inside before we start.

How a mattress cleaning goes

  1. Look at the mattress

We check the label, the type (innerspring, foam or hybrid), the top layer and the marks. You tell us what happened and when.

  2. Vacuum the surface

Seams, edges and tufts hold dry dust and hair, so they come out before any liquid goes on.

  3. Treat the marks

Sweat, urine and spilled drinks are different marks and get different treatment. We test a hidden spot on the side first, and we use eco-friendly products.

  4. Clean with controlled moisture

We work in sections and keep the water low, and we lift moisture back out instead of leaving it in the mattress.

  5. Dry it before the sheets go on

Open a window or run a fan, and leave the bed unmade until the mattress is dry to the touch right through. The mattress, the room and the weather set the drying time, and we will not invent one.

Bedrooms across the county

Humidity runs differently from the beaches to the valleys, and a mattress dries at the pace of its room. That is why we ask whether the window opens and whether there is a fan. Dust mites are the other thing people ask about, and the answer from the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences is that they cannot be completely eliminated but can be kept down with allergen-proof encasements, hot-washed bedding, lower humidity and a HEPA vacuum.
  • The U.S. National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences says dust mites live in mattresses, bedding, upholstered furniture, carpets and curtains, cannot be completely eliminated, and can be reduced with humidity at or below 50 percent, allergen-proof mattress and pillow encasements, bedding washed weekly in hot water, and vacuuming with a HEPA filter.Source

Getting the bed ready

Strip the bed, wash the sheets by their labels, and tell us who sleeps on the mattress and what happened to it. Blot fresh spills and never pour water on the mark. Afterward keep the room ventilated and leave the bed unmade until it is fully dry. A waterproof protector or an allergen-proof encasement keeps the next spill and the dust off the surface.

Questions about mattress cleaning

Does mattress cleaning get rid of dust mites?
We do not claim it does. The advice for dust mites is allergen-proof encasements, hot-washed bedding, lower humidity and HEPA vacuuming. We clean mattresses, and we do not treat allergies.
Can you get urine or sweat out of a mattress?
Recent marks respond best. Old or deep marks may lighten without disappearing, and we will not promise a result before we have seen the mattress. Tell us how long ago it happened.
How long until I can sleep on it?
It depends on the mattress, the airflow in the room and the humidity, and we will not give you a number we cannot keep. Make the bed only when the mattress feels dry to the touch all the way down.
Can mattress cleaning get rid of bed bugs?
Mattress cleaning is cleaning, not pest control. If you have seen bugs, call a pest professional first, and tell us before we come.
Should I clean the mattress or replace it?
Replace it when it sags, or when a spill or a smell has soaked into the core. Otherwise cleaning is worth trying first, and we say honestly if we think the mattress is past it.

What customers say on Google

  • Allison C.

I particularly liked the way the lead cleaner described the PH balance of the solutions that they were using on our carpets. The acidic neutralizing rinse makes sure the floor doesn’t feel crunchy or sticky when it is dry. That extra step means our floors are very silky and totally residue-free.

  • Crystal M.

My kids have turned the giant living room ottoman into a trampoline and it's forever soiled with imprints. Steam cleaning the hefty cloth removed all the dark grime and restored the original bright blue hue. The furniture which is the focus is clean and the living space appears a lot tidier today.

  • Daniel R.

Thick outdoor seats were covered in tree algae and bird poop. Power-washings of the tough material killed any dirt from outside. We are pleased to be hosting barbecues from our clean chairs again.
