What people call us about

These are the things people say when they call about carpet.

  • The hallway looks gray, even after I vacuum

Foot traffic works soil into the same lanes every day. A vacuum takes the dry grit off the top but not what has settled deeper, and that deeper soil is what hot-water extraction is for.

  • I rented a machine and it still looks dull

The Carpet and Rug Institute says rental machines are fine for spots and in-between cleaning, but they should not replace a professional deep clean now and then. Leftover detergent is the other trap. It stays in the fiber, attracts dirt, and the carpet gets dirty again fast.

  • We are moving, and the carpet has to be done first

A move is a hard deadline, so tell us the date when you call and we plan from there. Say how many rooms and whether anything is stained, and we can tell you what is realistic.

  • Somebody spilled something and I’m afraid to touch it

Blot with a dry white cloth and do not rub. Never use laundry detergent, because its brighteners can dye the fiber. Then call, since the sooner a spill is treated the better.

  • I can’t remember when it was last cleaned

The Carpet and Rug Institute advises cleaning as needed and at least every 24 months. Follow the carpet maker’s schedule too, because skipping it can void a warranty. Pets push the schedule shorter.

How a carpet visit goes

  1. Walk the carpet together

The technician looks over the fiber, the traffic lanes, the spots and any burns or worn patches, with you beside them. This is when you point out what bothers you, and when the plan gets agreed.

  2. Vacuum before any water

A vacuum removes most of the loose dry soil, so it comes out first. Do a pass the day before if you like.

  3. Treat the lanes and spots

Traffic lanes and spots carry the most soil, so they are treated before the whole room is cleaned. That is the usual order for a professional visit.

  4. Rinse and extract

Hot water and solution go in, and suction pulls them back out with the loosened soil. It is the most common professional method for homes. The rinse counts most, because whatever stays behind attracts dirt.

  5. Protect and groom

Plastic or foil tabs go under furniture legs so color does not transfer onto wet carpet. Where the carpet suits it, the pile is groomed to remove wand marks and help it dry.

Why Los Angeles carpets collect what they do

Many Los Angeles homes open onto a patio or a yard, so grit arrives on every shoe and paw. Dry soil makes up about 85 percent of what gets tracked in, and a vacuum removes it, which is why vacuuming between cleanings does so much.

Before we arrive and while it dries

Clear small items off the floor, vacuum if you have time, and keep pets and children in another room until the carpet is dry. Afterward, open windows on a dry, sunny day or run fans. Wait for it to dry before the furniture goes back, and if it is still wet after 12 hours, call us.

Questions about carpet cleaning

Is steam cleaning the same as hot-water extraction?
For most people, yes. Steam cleaning is the popular name for hot-water extraction. Hot solution goes into the carpet and suction pulls it back out with the soil.
How long until my carpet is dry?
Often 6 to 12 hours, and sooner with good airflow. The real time depends on humidity, the carpet and how much water came out, so we will not quote you a number.
Is it safe for my kids and pets?
That depends on the product and on the rinse. We use eco-friendly products, and the rinse carries leftover solution out. Keep children and pets off until it is dry, and ask about anything you want to check.
A spot came back after cleaning. What now?
Do not scrub it. Leftover detergent in the fiber is a known cause of fast re-soiling, so call and tell us which spot. We stand behind our work with a satisfaction guarantee.

What customers say on Google

  • Allison C.

I particularly liked the way the lead cleaner described the PH balance of the solutions that they were using on our carpets. The acidic neutralizing rinse makes sure the floor doesn’t feel crunchy or sticky when it is dry. That extra step means our floors are very silky and totally residue-free.

  • Crystal M.

My kids have turned the giant living room ottoman into a trampoline and it's forever soiled with imprints. Steam cleaning the hefty cloth removed all the dark grime and restored the original bright blue hue. The furniture which is the focus is clean and the living space appears a lot tidier today.

  • Daniel R.

Thick outdoor seats were covered in tree algae and bird poop. Power-washings of the tough material killed any dirt from outside. We are pleased to be hosting barbecues from our clean chairs again.
