A city big enough to have several climates
Los Angeles is so large that it helps to read it by region: the San Fernando Valley, the Westside, Central, South Los Angeles, the Harbor and the Northeast. City Hall in the Civic Center dates from 1928, Union Station was commissioned by three railroads, and Griffith Observatory is open to the public. Busy buildings like those wear their floors harder than homes do, and that is the work commercial carpet cleaning exists for.
The weather swings as much as the map. In an average July the Santa Monica Pier tops out near 70 degrees, while Canoga Park, about 15 miles away, reaches around 95. Humidity and airflow decide how long carpet takes to dry, so the same cleaning behaves differently at the beach than it does in the Valley.
Water changes too. The city utility’s averages are lowest in the Valley and on the Westside, a little higher in Silver Lake, Downtown and South Los Angeles, and highest in the east side and around the Harbor. For a carpet the point is a thorough rinse, whatever comes out of the tap.
Mostly renters, mostly apartment buildings
Nearly two renters for every owner
About two thirds of households rent, and most homes here went up before 1980. A short description of the building and the age of the carpet helps the office plan the visit.
SourceMore apartments than houses
Almost half of all homes are in buildings of five units or more, which is more than the share that are single-family houses. If you live in a building, mention the floor, the elevator and where a technician can park.
SourceA third of the land in a fire zone
Roughly a third of the city’s land sits in the state’s highest fire hazard category. Soot and ash can leave upholstery nearly impossible to clean, so ask what is realistic before you book anything on smoke-damaged fabric.

Matching the service to the part of the city
In streets of houses, carpet and rug cleaning lead the list. In apartment buildings, carpet, upholstery and mattress cleaning cover most of a unit, and dryer vent cleaning matters where there are many dryers under one roof. Near the coast, humidity makes drying care part of the conversation, and commercial carpet cleaning covers offices from Downtown to the Valley.
- Carpet cleaningHot-water extraction, often called steam cleaning. Hot water and solution go in, and suction pulls the dirt back out.
- Upholstery & leather cleaningSofas, chairs and leather. The cleaning code on the tag (W, S, W/S or X) tells us whether the fabric takes water, solvent or neither.
- Commercial carpet cleaningOffices, shops and other business floors. Tell us when the space is busy and where the traffic lanes run.
